Our strategies focus on Agriculture Development; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Financial Services for the Poor; and Family Health which includes Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Family Planning, and Nutrition. These strategies are supported by functional teams that focus on Vaccine Delivery and Integrated Delivery. GDP also has Special Initiatives that focus Urban Poverty, Emergency Relief, and Value for the Money.<br/><br/></td></tr><tr height=25><td valign=top><b>Responsibilities</b></td><td>The Senior Program Assistant (SPA) is a key member, acting in the lead administrative role for the team. The SPA provides executive level support to the Director, assists in managing operational issues for the team and acts as a lead to the Program Assistants. Primary responsibilities are listed below.<br/><br/>1. Optimize the use of the Director's time so as to maximize the efficiency of the team's operations. This requires providing support to ensure that their time is preferentially dedicated to the highest priority activities, that tasks and correspondence are rapidly delegated as appropriate, and that follow-up by the Director's office is ensured. This includes the following:<br/>- Prioritize the Director's appointments, meetings and travel.<br/>- Managing communication with and for the Director.<br/>- Aid the Director in managing deadlines by keeping track of key dates and understanding the Director's assigned tasks.<br/>- Complex calendar management, scheduling high volumes of appointments and meetings with internal staff and external parties. Assist with prioritizing and balancing Director's workflow and time, by successfully understanding dependencies and relationships.<br/>- Work closely with the Business Officer and/or Project Manager to:<br/><br/>a. Ensure the Director's office facilitates the work of the team by providing timely responses to requests for review and/or decisions on team activities and grant proposals.<br/><br/>b. Aid the Director by ensuring they provide regular attention to strategic planning and that inefficiency due to miscommunication or lack of communication is minimized. The SPA should help ensure that the Director has regular communication with team leads and other Directors, and becomes aware of team issues and concerns as soon as possible.<br/>- Travel Arrangements: Make complex, domestic and international travel arrangements for Director and/or team.<br/>- Event Coordination: Assist in scheduling and planning of meetings, conferences and presentations for department or for external guests, which may include coordinating travel for participants, organizing logistics, preparing and disseminating materials.<br/>- Expense Reconciliation: Compilation and processing of expense reports, reimbursements, and check requests in an accurate and timely manner.<br/>- General Support: Creating, updating and/or maintaining organized files and records. We focus on the health problems that have a major impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding. Where they don't, we invest in research and development of new interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics. Our work in infectious diseases focuses on strategies to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, neglected and other infectious diseases, enteric and diarrheal diseases and pneumonia. These strategies are supported by functional teams that focus on Discovery and Translational Sciences, Vaccine Development, and Integrated Development.<br/><br/>The Senior Project Officer in the Office of the President of Global Health provides critical oversight and day-to-day project management for high priority, high visibility and highly complex scientific initiatives sponsored by the President of Global Health. Reporting to the Global Health Chief of Staff (COS), the Senior Project Officer is also responsible for coordinating the GH President's relationship with the Heads of Research Organizations (e.g., NIAID, NIH, Wellcome Trust) and coordinating the GH President's engagement with the various Health/Science Ministries, especially the ones with existing MoUs. The Senior Project Officer is an integral member of the Office of the President staff. <br/><br/>In coordination with the COS and APO, Trips/Events, the role is also responsible for shaping the learning agenda of the GH President and for orchestrating topical learning sessions throughout the year  across a wide area of life science, research and development and global health areas. Once developed, the toolkit will be openly available to external partners. The initiative will address end-to-end data access, management, integration, alignment, analysis, model creation, data visualization, and decision support. Data will be openly contributed by existing surveillance networks, systems, and partners. User interface solutions will ensure that the integrated data is accessible to and useful for partners.<br/><br/>Roles and Responsibilities<br/><br/>The Program Officer, Analytic Epidemiology will be responsible for one main area of work:<br/>- Integrate newly developed tools and test them in the development of additional core epidemiological models that will forecast the spatiotemporal dynamics of malaria and polio probabilistically. This will require performing initial literature searches, as well as, work with multiple knowledgebase sources to be up to speed with state of the art approaches. This individual will gather and integrate a variety of models in order to produce a unique platform. Primary responsibilities include:<br/><br/>Workforce Planning:<br/>- In alignment with the with the annual strategic planning process, manage the Human Capital planning process to understand the talent (type and number) required to achieve strategic objectives of the programs/operations supported.<br/>- Collaborate with and advise leadership to identify and prioritize current and future talent requirements which impact achievement of strategic impact objectives.<br/><br/>Talent Acquisition: <br/>- In collaboration with staffing team, ensure program and operational areas realize required type and level of staffing to support objectives in a timely manner.<br/><br/>Talent Review:<br/>- Develop and manage the process to differentiate roles, identify pivotal talent and document a robust succession plan.<br/>- Identify and initiate actions required to address key talent gaps and ensure programs and support areas have the right people in the right place at the right time.<br/>- Proactively partner with leaders to identify and implement targeted individual development plans that address key talent gaps in a timely manner.<br/><br/>Employee Relations:<br/>- Coach leadership in the development and implementation of required programs and the practice of consistent processes to establish and maintain a work environment where people can do their best work.<br/>- Develop and implement specific plans that reinforce foundation values and enable high performance from the organization.<br/>- Proactively identify and resolve employee issues through individual conversations or inputs from engagement surveys or other instruments to insure a productive and constructive work environment.<br/><br/><br/></td></tr><tr height=25><td valign=top><b>Qualifications</b></td><td>Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in human resources preferred.<br/><br/>At least five years of team leadership experience - proven ability to attract, lead, develop and motivate a team of HR professionals<br/><br/>In-depth knowledge of human resources trends, best practices, regulatory issues and experience in the following key areas:<br/>- Ability to develop and execute human resources strategy consistent with organizational needs<br/>- Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills, including experience working with c-level executives<br/>- Project management processes and practices<br/>- Business fundamentals<br/>- Organizational design<br/>- Workforce planning<br/>- Workforce Analytics<br/>- Change management techniques and strategies<br/>- Management and leadership development<br/>- Employee relations<br/>- Compensation practices<br/><br/>Experience as a member of an HR leadership team, responsible for the overall HR direction of an organization.<br/><br/><br/></td></tr><tr height=25><td valign=top><b>Requisition Number</b></td><td>3886BR<br/><br/></td></tr></table>]]></description><pubDate>Sun, 12 May 2013 02:59:00 GMT</pubDate><link>http://careers.gatesfoundation.org/job/Seattle-Senior-HR-Business-Partner-Job-WA-98101/2431087/?utm_source=J2WRSS&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=J2W%5FRSS</link><guid>http://careers.gatesfoundation.org/job/Seattle-Senior-HR-Business-Partner-Job-WA-98101/2431087/?utm_source=J2WRSS&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=J2W%5FRSS</guid></item></channel></rss>
