Gates Sr., under the direction of Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett.<br/><br/><br/></td></tr><tr height=25><td valign=top><b>Group Summary</b></td><td>The goal of the Global Development Program (GDP) is to increase opportunities for people in the developing world to lift themselves out of hunger and poverty and to help deliver targeted healthcare solutions in these regions. Our strategies focus on Agriculture Development; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Financial Services for the Poor; and Family Health which includes Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Family Planning, and Nutrition. These strategies are supported by functional teams that focus on Vaccine Delivery and Integrated Delivery. GDP also has Special Initiatives that focus Urban Poverty, Emergency Relief, and Value for the Money.<br/><br/>The Vaccine Delivery team is responsible for developing, implementing and supporting global strategies to strengthen routine immunization programs in developing countries and introduce new vaccines. While maximizing value from investments in immunization programs is key to the foundation's strategy, an equal priority is also be placed on the design and execution of delivery systems; including the monitoring of performance of routine immunization supply chains for both existing vaccines as well as those to accelerate new vaccine introduction.<br/><br/>The Vaccine Delivery team works with a variety of internal and external partners and is comprised of individuals with varying backgrounds in global public health, epidemiology, immunization, and program management.<br/><br/><br/></td></tr><tr height=25><td valign=top><b>Responsibilities</b></td><td>Located in Seattle, WA, the Associate Program Officer (APO) will work across the Routine Immunization (RI) initiative and broader Vaccine Delivery team to support the implementation of strategic priorities and performance goals by providing analytical and research support as relates to ongoing grant, contract and project management for the team. This will also include working to address challenges in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of vaccine supply chains in GAVI-eligible countries. <br/> Specific areas of work include:<br/><br/>Providing ongoing research and analytical support for the RI teams supply chain efforts including:<br/>- Contributing to the development and drafting of new proposals and development plans including proposal analysis and completion of appropriate form sections, etc.<br/>- Developing materials for learning trips and drafting responses to leadership requests for information or in preparation of their participation in key meetings relevant to the strategy of the Vaccine Delivery team.<br/>- Providing research and analytical support of technical data required to answer critical strategic or learning questions as well as for data modeling as needed.<br/>- Coordination and completion of literature reviews, landscape analysis and analytical reviews as assigned.<br/> Potential management of a small portfolio of special project and/or conference grants:<br/>- Assisting grantees in project development and definition of key outcomes.<br/>- Supporting grantees in the management, monitoring and evaluation of grant components ensuring the achievement of the desired impact of grants.<br/>- Collaboration with team members to manage internal processes, portfolio progress, documentation, and grant budget information and reporting.<br/>- Serving as a point of contact on portfolio-related issues for key stakeholders.<br/> Facilitating, coordinating, and managing a range of projects and activities related to developing, evaluating, and monitoring specific grants including:<br/>- Reviewing grant proposals and writing grant summaries.<br/>- Coordinating activities for a portfolio of initiatives or grants; overseeing key contractors and grantees working on these issues<br/>- Facilitating external reviews of grant proposals as needed.<br/> Assisting with knowledge exchange and communication of strategy progress including:<br/>- Creating and managing a framework for capturing progress and lessons learned relevant to projects and initiatives with the Vaccine Delivery team.<br/>- Coordinating across the group to capture data and communicate results and lessons learned to multiple stakeholders both internally and externally to support better decision making. This may include the development of reviews, summaries and presentations.<br/>- Creating and managing content for programmatic areas on an internal team SharePoint site.<br/>- Supporting the ongoing development of various communication materials as needed.<br/> Regularly engaging with key Immunization partners, and supporting others who engage with partners, to ensure that partner and foundation expectations are being met.<br/><br/><br/></td></tr><tr height=25><td valign=top><b>Qualifications</b></td><td>H/She will have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility; including basic program/project management experience. Experience working in global health vaccine delivery, finance and policy related work; ideally within developing countries required. Background should include broad knowledge of international development and general health issues and institutions.<br/>- A minimum of a bachelor's degree required. MPH or other post-secondary degree (MBA) with relevance to public health and/or immunization preferred.<br/>- Ability to organize/prioritize work and meet deadlines while providing continual attention to detail in proofing materials, tracking projects and grants, all within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands.<br/>- Experience in a role requiring collaboration in complex internal and external organizations, as well as a demonstrated ability to work with efficiency and diplomacy, particularly as part of a team effort.<br/>- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills in positions requiring communication with a broad, diverse and cross-cultural audience. Strong listening skills and ability to adapt style to a variety of audiences crucial.<br/>- Financial modeling experience.<br/>- Demonstrated capacity and initiative to solve problems with energy and positive attitude.<br/>- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.<br/>- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a complex organization.<br/>- Excellent software skills with Microsoft Office applications including advance use of Excel.
