We focus on the health problems that have a major impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding. Where proven tools exist, we support sustainable ways to improve their delivery. Where they don't, we invest in research and development of new interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics. Our work in infectious diseases focuses on strategies to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, neglected and other infectious diseases, enteric and diarrheal diseases and pneumonia. These strategies are supported by functional teams that focus on Discovery and Translational Sciences, Vaccine Development, and Integrated Development.<br/><br/>The foundation's HIV program plays a lead role in advancing the Global Health Program's goal of progressively reducing HIV incidence and extending the lives of people living with HIV, particularly in high-burden countries in Africa.<br/><br/><br/>The HIV program is recruiting for a temporary Research Analyst, reporting to the HIV Program Manager. The Research Analyst will work across the HIV program strategy team to research, coordinate and develop high profile, time-sensitive documents, presentations, briefings and analyses.<br/><br/></td></tr><tr height=25><td valign=top><b>Responsibilities</b></td><td>The Program Coordinator (PC) plans, coordinates, and executes a range of projects and activities to support the life cycle of grants and contracts as well as other program initiatives. The current opening will directly support the HIV Strategic Program Team (SPT). The PC is a critical liaison within the foundation's grant-making and grant-management infrastructure, working with Program Officers to create a grant-making portfolio that is on strategy, on budget, in compliance, and well-performing. He/she also plays an important financial reporting function in maintaining pay-out forecasts for individual grants and contracts and cross-cutting roles to improve the efficiency of business operations across the HIV&TB team. Primary PC responsibilities are as follows:<br/><br/>- Coordinate and facilitate grant-making and grant management processes, including: Work with Program Officers, Grantees, and Business Partners to create an annual workplan with major deadlines to receive, review, revise, and analyze applications and reports for submission. Assist with grant management and evaluation by requesting and reviewing written materials (including grant summaries and reports). <br/>- Data Input, Management & Analysis: Manage data for all grants and contracts in multiple databases and SharePoint sites. Once developed, the toolkit will be openly available to external partners. The initiative will address end-to-end data access, management, integration, alignment, analysis, model creation, data visualization, and decision support. Data will be openly contributed by existing surveillance networks, systems, and partners. User interface solutions will ensure that the integrated data is accessible to and useful for partners.<br/><br/>Roles and Responsibilities<br/><br/>The PO will be responsible for one main area of work:<br/>- Work closely with the internal Biosurveillance team and external partners to integrate new models and tools to develop software that manages end-to-end data processing, from data intake to predictive modeling and innovative data visualization. The utility of the tools/software will be verified through evaluation of performance metrics when applied to existing datasets.<br/>- This software would be developed for running and implementation in the cloud environment.<br/><br/>The Program Officer will work closely with the malaria and polio program strategy teams and cross-cutting functional teams to ensure that the platform being developed meets their needs.<br/><br/>The Program Officer will report directly to the Director of Vaccine Development, with technical supervision from a Senior Program Officer in Epidemiology and Surveillance. The position will be a two year professional engagement based in Seattle.
